Bleak. Dire. Grey, grey, grey.
These are words that might be coming to mind over and over for some people when they consider their business and it’s future in the midst of this forced economic standstill.
Rather than dwell on the shitstoem that we now find ourselves in and complain, I’m the sort of person that likes to solve problems. The bigger the challenge, the more satisfying when it’s solved, amiright?
When all the variables and parts and grants and stock prices and customer demand levels are all going haywire how is it possible to see through the panic?
Well, sadly, this isn’t an advice column and I certainly can’t offer you a solution to your specific problem but here’s what I suggest. It’s important that while you do these things you’re keeping your eyes wide open to opportunities because you might just unearth some new ideas;
If you’re overwhelmed, use this time for business housekeeping. Tidy things up you’ve been meaning to so that you feel organized including your files, your outstanding invoices and your client lists. Develop a list of prospects.
Revisit your goals, hopes and dreams for your business. If you’ve got a business plan, update it.
Reflect on your current challenges. What is going wrong and why? How can you adapt to overcome these challenges? Do you need to move to an online platform? Do you need to expand your product or service offerings? Could you use what you have to completely change the face of your business and make it more relevant?
